It is hard to say if there was one defining moment when Sleeping Sea began. The inspiration and beginnings may have been born in our Uncle Hal's delicatessen or the opportunity that brought our family out West in the 1930's. There is, however, one thing we can all agree on here other than the beauty and magic of the San Juan Islands. It is our commitment to a lifestyle, people, the land, and the environment make Sleeping Sea an unequaled treasure anywhere in the Pacific Northwest.
Founded by Shana Lloyd in 1996, the family owned and operated company is now a joint operation between Shana and two of her children. Starting with the farm and passion for landscapes, over the years Sleeping Sea truly developed into an estate property. We have a vision for the future that does not limit us to plan just for the summer season or even the next coming years, but generations to come. We have an InterGenerational approach to our business and wish to see it thrive in our family into the distant future. This past decade we established two more locations to include separate seaside and village accommodations. Guests have the choice for any of the most memorable San Juan Island experiences FARM. VILLAGE. or SEA. We hope to share these with you and your families.
